Volunteer Positions

ReStore Greeter

ReStore Greeters are the first friendly face customers see. In this role, you’ll welcome guests, provide donation receipts, help customers find their way around the store, share current sales, answer phone calls, keep the front entrance looking great, and jump in to help with small tasks as needed.

Donation Ambassador

As a Donation Ambassador, you’ll ride alongside our ReStore Driver to pick up donations from homes and businesses across the Greater Peoria Area. Every donation—whether it’s a box of tile, a cabinet, or a refrigerator—helps fund Habitat’s work in our community.

This is a physical, hands-on role that’s perfect for someone with a strong back, a friendly attitude, and a knack for loading and arranging items safely on the truck. Must be able to lift 40 pounds or more.

Donation Processor

If you love a good before-and-after moment, this is your role. As a Donation Processor, you’ll help clean, sort, and organize incoming donations—many of which arrive needing a little extra attention. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work and finds satisfaction in creating order out of a mess.

Product Testing & Repair

If you have a knack for fixing things or simply enjoy testing how things work, we’d love your help. In this role, you’ll test, troubleshoot, and repair donated items like power tools, appliances, ceiling fans, and lighting. Some items just need to be plugged in and checked, while others may need minor repairs to get them ready for the sales floor.

You may also help research pricing, check for product recalls, and ensure each item is safe and ready to sell. There’s always something waiting for the right set of hands.

Building Maintenance

If you’re handy or enjoy tackling small projects, we could use your help. The ReStore regularly needs light bulbs changed, signage installed, minor flooring repairs completed, walls built, and more. No matter your skill level, there’s always something to do to keep the store in great shape.

Upcycler

If you enjoy creating, restoring, and reimagining materials, this is the perfect role for you. As an Upcycling Volunteer, you’ll help turn donated items into something new—showcasing creative possibilities for our customers and giving new life to old materials.

This role may also include leading demo classes, assisting with craft events, or helping to inspire creative reuse throughout the ReStore.
