Your support makes a difference in the lives of hardworking, low-income families in the Greater Peoria area! Did you know your gift does much more than help families escape from unsafe, unhealthy living conditions? You’re helping families break the cycle of poverty and build long-term financial security. Habitat’s affordable, no-profit house payments free up money for food, child care, medicine and other necessities. Research has also shown that decent housing improves health, increases children’s educational achievement, and strengthens community ties.
Turn your time into local impact. Whether you want to pick up a hammer on a construction build site, help out with customer service and organizing at our ReStore, or bring a corporate or faith group out for a team build, we have a spot for you.
Your financial support helps local families build strength, stability, and independence. From one-time gifts and monthly giving to donating property, your generosity builds a brighter future for our community.
Shop, donate, and save at our ReStore. Located at 804 W. Main Street, our nonprofit home improvement center accepts and sells gently used furniture, appliances, and building materials. Every purchase and donation directly funds local Habitat home-building projects.
In addition to our local impact, we donate 10% of all unrestricted gifts to an underdeveloped country that is unable to fundraise on its own.
Gifts of construction materials and/or services can be given to build Habitat houses. Habitat also accepts gently used appliances and other surplus construction items which are sold at the ReStore to finance Habitat houses.
Although we do much of our work with volunteers, we still need licensed professionals to give of their time and expertise:
- Architects
- Structural engineers
- Electricians
- Plumbers
- HVAC
- Dry wall experts
- Concrete foundation & flatwork contractors
- Stone masons
- Landscape and sprinkler system contractors
Our housing programs are supported by donations. Land is no different. Our financial resources to purchase land are limited, so we rely upon gifts of land to assure the affordability of the houses that we build. Donating land can also have many tax benefits for the donor. In most instances we can assist with the transaction at no cost to the donor and Habitat for Humanity will cover all the related expenses to make your gift a reality. If you have land that you would like to donate, our trained staff and attorney can assist you in structuring the gift to accommodate your needs. Your gift will help to create continued opportunities for affordable housing in the Greater Peoria area

Do you own land in Peoria, Woodford, Tazewell, or Marshall County that you would like to donate?
We can accept plotted building lots, farm acreage, or raw land. Donations of land are 100% tax deductible.
Do you own a house in Peoria, Woodford, Tazewell, or Marshall County that you would like to donate?
The donation of an already constructed home is a special blessing. Many existing homes can be renovated to meet the needs of a low-income family much more quickly than it takes to build a new house. As part of our Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, we are actively seeking foreclosed upon and dilapidated homes that can be renovated – a double benefit, providing a home for a family in need while helping to restore blighted neighborhoods.
If you have a house that you would like to donate, but it would require that the house be relocated or moved, please call us to discuss the donation.
Do you own land or a house somewhere else that you would like to donate?
Land that is outside of Peoria, Woodford, Tazewell, or Marshall County can still be donated to support the critical work of eliminating substandard and poverty housing. We can use the funds from the sale of these properties to fund home-building, homeowner education, and program operations.
Do you have land in Peoria, Woodford, Tazewell, or Marshall County that you would like to sell to us at a discounted price?
We are always looking for affordable opportunities to purchase land for future house construction. The land must be modestly priced and suitable for house construction. We cannot purchase land that is in the floodplain and we cannot mediate heirship issues. The land must have a clear and marketable title and be free of encumbrances.
A gift through your will, IRA, life insurance policy, or a charitable trust is one of the most meaningful ways to support affordable homeownership in Greater Peoria — and can provide significant tax benefits for you and your heirs. Our staff can work alongside your financial planner or attorney to help structure a gift that fits your needs at no cost to you.
Define Your Legacy
Planned gifts provide the resources that create new opportunities and preserve Habitat for Humanity Greater Peoria Area’s future. These gifts can qualify for significant tax deductions and include bequests, charitable gift annuities, and charitable remainder trusts.
Naming Habitat for Humanity Greater Peoria Area as a beneficiary in an IRA, life insurance policy, other financial account, or in your will is one critical way that you can help provide for future stability and growth. Please consult your qualified financial planner or attorney.
Stock and Bond Gifts
A charitable gift of stock or bonds can help make the dream of homeownership a reality for a deserving family while also providing tax savings for you.
A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you also avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation.
In addition to helping Habitat for Humanity Greater Peoria Area fulfill its mission of eliminating poverty housing, you may diversify away from low-basis, long-term holdings into other assets that will better suit your needs. Please consult your qualified financial planner or attorney.
